Sophie and Alice were invited to compete as guest pro riders in this weekend’s round of the StreetVelodrome in Worthing. The event was filmed for BT Sport, but until the show airs here’s what they got up to:
Our title sponsor RGB Building Supplies support Children’s Hospice South West which is a charity for terminally ill children. We joined them at a charity 5k Rainbow Run helping raise vital funds for the cause.
It was lovely to support such a special charity as well as encourage lots of people as they made their way round the 5km course.
A top day supporting the Children's Hospice South West Rainbow Run with RGB Building Supplies 👍🏃♀️🏃🌈🏃♀️
Cycle Engage UK are proud to have supported the Tour de Manc Disability Ride on Saturday 3rd of June.
We joined Tour de Manc at Tameside cycle circuit to support and promote cycling to people with disabilities. We helped riders chose suitable bikes and encouraged riders as they cycled around the circuit by riding next to or even with them. It was great fun to take part in: everyone was so happy to be outside and there was a bike suitable for everyone – the event was so inclusive, no matter the disability or special need.
We joined up with Active Devon to promote the #DevonGirlsCan campaign: encouraging more women and girls into sport and active lifestyles. The festival took place in central Exeter, in the Princesshay shopping area, during halfterm and it was great to meet lots of children and parents as they enjoyed the city. Our stand was an interactive and fun way to get involveld with children and parents alike as they challenged each other over short 15-20 second ‘races’.
Here’s a short compilation of a few of our visitors:
What a fantastic day at the #DevonGirlsCan festival in Exeter today!
We will be launching our elite women’s cycling team at Bike Chain Bissoe on the 7th April 2017 and we’d like to invite you to come!
As part of our community initiatives to improve and promote participation in cycling, we’ve created an elite women’s cycling team. We’ll be revealing all the team’s sponsors, riders and race calendar at the launch on Friday the 7th of April, and it’s open to everyone to attend.
The event is graciously hosted by one of our sponsors, Bike Chain Ricci at their Bissoe cycle cafe. We’ll have food, drink, local coffee, alcohol, and some great company.
In keeping with our team ethos and desire to get more “bums on seats” the evening is open to the public and families are especially welcome. We’ve got prizes for the roller racing and think it’ll be a great night for all.
Please do come along and find out what we’re about!
Once the riders, staff and sponsors are all introduced there will be an informal Q+A session for guests to get to know more about the rider’s aims, objectives and views on all things #womenscycling.
To get the party started (and running all evening!) there will be Rollapaluza roller racing. With adult and child bikes, everyone can take part in short 30 second races and challenge mums, dads, friends and enemies!
Launch event schedule:
6pm – Official team launch
6.30 pm – Q+A with team
7pm – Rollapaluza and party time!
Bike Chain Bissoe
Old Conns Works,
This weekend the team met up in Cornwall to take part in a social ride with Bike Chain Ricci.
Bike Chain Ricci is a Cornish bike shop in Redruth with a bike hire and cafe in Bissoe. Set up by local legend Richard Pascoe, Bike Chain Ricci is renowned for their passion for cycling and Ricci works very hard to grow and promote cycling in the community.
Bike Chain Bissoe has become a central meeting point for cyclists in Cornwall: when the team arrived the cafe was already bustling with families and cyclists of all ages.
Bike Chain Ricci run a very successful academy for youth and junior riders and it was great to join lots of keen young cyclists on their training circuit before peeling off for a longer ride through Cornwall.
After we’d filled up on coffee, cake and bacon baps it was time to move on to the main Bike Chain Ricci shop in Redruth. Whilst looking around the Bike Chain Pro store Ricci also shared some great insights into the world of elite cycling.
Thank you so much to Ricci and your team for making us feel so welcome and showing us beautiful Cornwall. We loved talking with everyone and sharing our love for cycling. We’re looking forward to our next visit already!
At least once a month we meet up to train together, catch up on gossip and learn some new routes in each others’ area. This weekend we were led by Exmouth local Jenny Bolsom who took us on a tour of some of her favourite training roads around East Devon.
Although outside of the National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor, East Devon is a pretty hilly place and we still managed to do quite a bit of climbing. We even came over Peak Hill (2006 National Hill Climb) but were rewarded with freshly made doughnuts on Sidmouth sea front.

We carried on getting to know each other as we followed one of Tom and Alice’s favourite training routes through Devon. This was a chance for everyone to learn a little more about each other and also get used to riding with each other.
